meet the wedding girls

Glad you are curious to learn a little more about the girls behind After the Engagement.  I am Courtney Tibbets {sandwiched between the lovelies above!}, Owner and Wedding and Event Planner at After the Engagement, and Self-Certified “Wedding Girl”.   I love weddings, and I am happy to tell you that I totally kick ass at planning and coordinating them!  After four years and a ton of different events, I am ready to put my skills to work for your Big Day.  I love styling events and making sure that every detail is just as you imagined it.

Because I think of this as working not only FOR you, but more importantly WITH you, I’d love to tell you about my ideal client, since I feel it’s just as important as who your ideal Planner is.  My ideal client wants a laid-back wedding planning process, a very meaningful marriage ceremony, a fun party {the biggest one you’ve ever thrown}, and to ultimately give their guests a night to remember.  My ideal client loves to mix a sprinkle of tradition with a huge side of funky and edgy, and they really want something unique for their wedding.  She or he is someone who understands that while small things *might* not go perfectly {but we’ll do our best to make sure you never know}, it won’t matter because they’ll still be married at the end of the night.  I want to truly get to know my clients, so I feel comfortable and confident acting as your decision maker and teammate on your day.

Remember, it is entirely possible to be a guest at your own wedding!

Courtney:

• Loves San Diego.   Obsessed.
• Is an only child, and can admit she is bossy and controlling, which she believes are perfect qualities for a Wedding Planner aka Boss Lady :)
• Her Mom is her best friend
• Loves dogs, especially her 8-year-old Lab “puppy”, Abbey
• Married her high-school sweetheart, Jasper, in 2007
• Has known most of her girlfriends since elementary school
• Sometimes can’t believe she is blessed with the chance to own this company, and that her clients let her truly be herself
• Still loves a candy buffet at a wedding, even if some of you might think it’s played out
• Loves seafood, hates bacon
• Collects coffee mugs
• Loves cruising, especially on Carnival
• Thinks Stepbrothers and The Hangover are pretty much the best movies ever
• Her iPhone and iPad are her obsessions

Briana Wilson

 

Briana Wilson is a Wedding and Event Manager at After the Engagement.   Briana’s passion for aesthetic perfection began more than five years ago as she earned a degree in Graphic Design from San Diego State University. That enthusiasm grew as she obtained her Wedding Planning Certificate while learning from industry professionals and working directly with brides and assorted vendors. She also plans all the events for Unisource Solutions, a San Diego contract furniture dealership, and helps CREW San Diego plan their annual events.

Briana:

• Born & raised in San Diego
• Loves color
• Loves simplicity
• Believes used horseshoes are full of luck!
• Is obsessed with paper. Scrap booking, gift wrapping, invitations, all of it!
• Loves spending time with her family
• Can be found riding her beach cruiser around the Bay or Coronado while enjoying the sunshine
• Is looking for a tall hot man to be her husband!
• Her iPod is FULL of country music
• Cheers for the Padres and Chargers
• Grande non-fat white mocha with whip, please!
• Hopes to one day go for a ride in a fighter jet
• Would gladly eat Mexican food for every meal
• Secretly wishes she could be Carrie Underwood for just one day

Briana has worked alongside me for the past two years, and I find her to be one of the most important assets to my company.  I can trust her to make the same decisions I would make while working an event.  Her calm demeanor will keep you at ease, and her dedication to your event will be shown in the final product.  The details make her happy, and her favorite part of weddings is getting to know the bride and groom along with their family and close friends. She really enjoys knowing that she helped make their day very special and memorable.

 

Mitzi Dominguez

Mitzi Dominguez is an Assistant Event Coordinator at After the Engagement.  Mitzi is a recent Marketing graduate from Cal State Long Beach University.  She has always been interested in the beauty and happiness that comes from weddings.  Working behind the scenes to make the end goal a success is what she enjoys the most, and knowing that she added to make the big day perfectly special for the loving couple is what means the most to her.

Mitzi:

• Absolutely adores all dogs, especially her long-haired Chihuahua, Mollie
• Believes elephants are good luck
• Loves bright colors and sparkle
• Adds hot sauce or chili peppers to just about anything
• Has a slight obsession with shoes
• Enjoys being poolside or at the beach
• Horoscope junkie
• Born and raised in San Diego, but dreams of one day living in New York
• Reading, writing, and cooking are 3 things she enjoys and finds therapeutic
• Learned to surf and snowboard at age 8

This is Mitzi’s second year with After the Engagement.  I think her sweet, calm personality makes her a great fit for our team.  Assistant Coordinators are just as important to us as the Principal Coordinator on any job.  They contribute to making each detail perfect- things like straightening the escort cards, taking smudges off centerpiece vases, or helping cue the bridal party for the walk down the aisle, are all things you might find Mitzi helping with!
