I am Courtney Tibbets, Owner and Wedding and Event Planner at After the Engagement. I started this company, a full service event planning business, in 2008 because of my love for weddings and my need to control just about everything (just kidding, I think… ask my husband…). It has taken three years and quite a bunch of weddings to realize that this company is truly my destiny and passion.
A little bit about me: I married my high-school sweetheart, Jasper, in 2007 after dating each other for over seven years. He proposed while on a cruise, docked on Catalina Island, which has since become a favorite vacation spot of ours. Fishing for him, reading and relaxing for me. Even though I had my most perfect wedding day on Labor Day weekend {at the Bali Hai in San Diego}, I still dream of an I Do Re-do now that I am immersed in the wedding industry. So many great new trends, so many wonderful wedding vendors. If I have just one regret about my wedding day, it is that we opted out of a videographer. I so wish I could transport myself back to the feelings, emotions, sights and sounds of that day with a video!
I am an only child (bossy?), and my mom is my best friend. We have a very naughty seven-year-old Lab “puppy” named Abbey. I have known most of my close girlfriends since elementary school, and I think most of my friends would tell you I am very loyal, and a bit stubborn. I am mildly obsessed with reality television, and of course, wedding shows.
Courtney:
- Loves San Diego, and could not imagine living anywhere else
- Loves costume jewelry: long necklaces, big rings, earrings; anything borderline gaudy to accessorize our “wedding-day black” ensembles
- Loves candy and cupcakes
- Won’t eat most meat, but loves seafood
- Collects coffee mugs
- Loves Carnival cruises
- Thinks Stepbrothers and The Hangover are pretty much the best movies ever
- Her iPhone is her obsession, and the music section is full of country AND rap music! She loves Vanilla Ice. Really, though, who doesn’t?

Briana Wilson is a Wedding and Event Planner at After the Engagement. Briana’s passion for aesthetic perfection began more than five years ago as she earned a degree in Graphic Design from San Diego State University. That enthusiasm grew as she obtained her Wedding Planning Certificate while learning from industry professionals and working directly with brides and assorted vendors. She also plans all the events for Unisource Solutions, a San Diego contract furniture dealership, and helps CREW San Diego plan their annual events.
Briana has worked alongside me for the past two years, and I find her invaluable. Her calm demeanor will keep you at ease, and her dedication to your event will be shown in the final product. The details make her happy, and her favorite part of weddings is getting to know the bride and groom along with their family and close friends. She really enjoys knowing that she helped make their day very special and memorable.
Briana:
- Was born in San Diego
- Loves color
- Loves simplicity
- Is obsessed with paper, scrapbooking, wrapping, invitations, any of it!
- Loves her family
- Her iPod is FULL of country music

Veronica Elegado is the newest member of the team, as our Assistant Wedding Planner. Our interview only lasted ten minutes before I knew she would be a fantastic fit for our team. She is kind and enthusiastic to learn. Veronica grew up as a staple in many family weddings; as a flower girl, junior bridesmaid, and bridesmaid, which quickly built her affinity for fancy and fun events.
Veronica was born and raised in San Diego, then moved North to attend college at San Francisco State University. She graduated in 2007 as a Speech and Communication Major with an emphasis in Intercultural Communication. With plenty of experience in customer service and campaign managing for a marketing/advertising company, planning and team building comes naturally to Veronica.
As the eldest of five, she adores her family, and is the only sister with four brothers! She has competed in local pageants, and has participated in Polynesian Dancing since she was 12. Veronica enjoys playing basketball, participating in triathlons and half marathons, traveling, and browsing great photography.
Veronica:
- Loves San Francisco and big cities
- Adores her pug, Ninja
- Is a former Pageant Queen
- Could eat ethnic food everyday
- Is a plan-aholic
- Enjoys any epic movie series
- Favorite color is black {Yes, we think black is a color. It’s what we wear to weddings!}
- Would rather eat dessert before the actual meal
- Her iphone is full of RnB, Hip Hop, Alternative, and anything she can dance to
